Aberdeen Heat & Power is delivering low-carbon heat to one of the city’s most high-profile regeneration projects — the £40 million New Market Development, now named Flint.
In partnership with Aberdeen City Council and McGinty’s Group, we’ve extended our existing district heating network from the Town House car park to the Flint site via a complex trench route running along Queen Street, Broad Street, Netherkirkgate, Carnegie’s Brae, and East Green.
This connection means the new market, set to open in 2027, will benefit from energy-efficient, low-maintenance heating infrastructure, with no gas boilers required thanks to a plate heat exchanger system. The trench works were completed in summer 2025.
