Metered new builds

If you live in a metered new build house that’s connected to an Aberdeen Heat & Power district heating network, this page is for you.

Your account will be set up with AHP who handle your payments. If you have any issues with your heating or hot water, you contact Aberdeen City Council.

Your home is connected to a district heating network, which provides heat and hot water from a central Energy Centre. Instead of having an individual boiler, the heat is delivered to your home via a Heat Interface Unit (HIU) — a small wall-mounted unit inside your flat that acts like a mini boiler.

This network is powered by a combination of gas boilers and energy-efficient Combined Heat and Power (CHP) engines. It means:

• No individual gas bills

• No combustion inside your home

• Lower carbon emissions

• Reliable, community-based energy.
